Travel Tuesday is one day late because I was traveling home from visiting Michigan yesterday! The destination this week is a must see if you live on, or plan to visit, the East Coast. In the Pennsylvania countryside, just outside of Wilmington, Delaware and about 30 minutes from Philadelphia lies Longwood Gardens. Longwood Gardens was Pierre S. DuPont's country estate and has over 1,000 acres filled with plants, flowers, small lakes, large tree houses and an indoor conservatory complete with a children's garden.
It is filled with tulips in the spring, fountain shows and fireworks in the summer, autumn leaves in the fall, christmas lights, ice skating shows and paperwhites in december and orchids galore in January. Visit anytime of the year and you will not be disappointed. I promise.
For more information (and pictures courtesty of) go to Longwood gardens.
