Maps and such

This week I discovered Land of Nod, they have some really great things. I love this wall map.

I have a mild obsession with maps, I love this one from Sundance. It is so fun.

I think this would be a great way to teach kids about the states, or brush up on them yourself!

I think these clocks from Pottery Barn Kids would look fabulous on my wall, right by my African art.

What better way to learn the ABC's than by cities from around the world?

Recipes that sound good right now

I am working a full day today (the glorious life of a temp, I only occasionally work full days) and starting to get hungry, looking at food blogs probably doesn't help. Here are some recipes that look/sound good right now.

Baked Chimichangas -it is about half way down the page, there are a lot from Cookbook Junkies that look good right now...

BBQ Chicken Salad- Oh this sounds so good, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. This is one of my all time favorite salads. If you check out Picky Palate make sure to look at the Brushetta Chicken, it is delicious.

Roasted Red Pepper and Edamame Postickers- I confess I have never tried Edamame, although I hear great things about it. I think I may need to venture out of my comfort zone and try it now.

Greek Inspired Chicken Burger- This recipe from More than Burnt Toast sounds so good (and looks good too.) Look at the rest of their recipes if you get the chance, there are a lot of yummy looking recipes.

Plum Sorbet- Doesn't that look amazing?

Art on a budget

Thank you Etsy for bringing the world a huge variety of affordable art. All of these paintings are under $100, most are actually under $50. I included watercolors, oils and one is a mixed media piece. You can check any of these beautiful pieces out by clicking on the picture.

Blog posts to love this week

This post from A Room Somewhere was a favorite of mine ( I especially loved the picture of the shoes.) There are some great pictures, I think they are Gemma Coma's ( a photographer ).
This post from Your Heart Out, Angela Bentley Fife is an amazing artist. I loved looking at her paintings.

I loved this post at Tangled and True, it has some great links for over sized maps. I think I am going to call the Pottery Barn outlet and hope that they have one of the over sized maps there.

I saw this picture at Black Eiffel, isn't it fun?

British Wedding Hats

One thing I love about England, and firmly believe we should adopt in the United States (outside the Kentucky Derby that is) is the large fun hats. I found this blog post today and was reminded of how much I want to attend an event where possession of a large hat is encouraged if not required. Check out the post from A Cup of Jo, British Wedding Hats.
On a completely random note, have you ever tried using an ergonomic keyboard and mouse? It like learning how to operate a computer all over again, almost.

Found on Coronado Island

I found this couch at a fun store on Coronado Island called Seaside Home (thanks Danielle!). I loved this couch they had, it was made out of flax I think. It reminded me of an old fashioned potato sack. It was beautiful.

I also loved the chairs they had paired with the couch.
