happy halloween

Halloween (or Hallowe’en) is an international holiday celebrated on the evening of October 31; today it is often celebrated in the morning and afternoon as well. Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, ghost tours, bonfires, costume parties, visiting haunted attractions, carving jack-o'-lanterns, reading scary stories, and watching horror movies. Irish and Scottish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth century.

Thank you Wikipedia, for more info on the origins of Halloween go here. As for me I am off to prepare for a traditional (in my family at least) chili and breadsticks party! Happy Halloween!

happy diwali

All that I know about Diwali I learned from the Office. You can find real information on Diwali here.

browsing

Here are two of my favorite images I found blog browsing today. The first is a photo of the rows of tulips in Holland from Black Eiffel of course. In case you couldn't tell Black Eiffel is a favorite blog of mine. The second image is from EmilyStyle. It is the gift she gave to her husband on their wedding day. She made it from left over invitations, I for one am in awe.

These earrings are for a special Christmas order. Which are your favorites? Thanks for all your feedback on the neck, it is officially creepy. Camilla said the wrist would be better what do you think do you like the wrist better than the neck?

delaware

We took a trip to Delaware to visit my sister and her family. Some of the highlights include Old Newcastle, a town that has worked hard to preserve its colonial legacy.

The scenery of Delaware is amazing. Longwood Gardens is something I would recommend as well. I just wish all the fountains had still been running. And that more of the DuPont home would be open for touring. I am a sucker for a tour of an old house.

question

My Mom likes to see jewelry photographed on people. I am not convinced that it is not creepy. So what do you think creepy, not creepy, a little creepy?

silhouettes

I had forgotten all about silhouettes (we made some in elementary school) until I read this post and this post on Nie Nie Dialogues. I have been curious ever since. I found the classic instructions here, but I think there must be an easier maybe better way to do this? Maybe this way?

let them eat cake

I tried to just get the cake but the whole thing came with the cake. Regardless isn't the a beautiful cake? Go look at Style Me Pretty to see a bigger picture. And yes I have been married for a while but I still like to look at wedding blogs, growing up I was a bride almost every year for Halloween, I think that says it all.

coats

It is getting cold up here in the mid east/west (I am not really sure what category my state falls under, probably "up there".) When I say cold I mean really cold. So I saw some coats at Delias and Boden that were really cute... then I had to wait for the bus this morning and I realized I need a coat more like this or possibly this.

around the web

I loved these pictures I saw over at Black Eiffel. The first is from Sophie Cuvelier and the second is a photograph by Mark Weinberg.

You Belong in 1979

Bold and brash, you take life by the horns. Whether you're partying or protesting, you give it your all!

I don't know about bold or brash but I did drive by a protest one time and I thought that might be fun...
