nobody does it better

Kate Middleton, or I guess I should say the Duchess of Cambridge, knows how to pick and wear a hat. These are from an outing this week at the Derby (a horse race?). They are estimating that she will have approximately three outfits a day (40+ outfits) for their visits to Canada and the United States next month. I can't wait to see what she has put together because nobody does it better.

the best of the hats

Here are what I think were the best hats amongst the guests. Sorry, I don't know who most, or really any, of these people are, so no names.
And my personal favorite, Zara Phillips (on the right).

finally!

My friends and I are making hats to wear while watching the Royal wedding. I finally found a shop on Etsy that sells hat bases in the United States! I found some instructions on how to make a fascinator here. Let the millinery commence!

chic

I love this hat from Forever 21. They list it as a World War 1 inspired hat but I am pretty sure this type of hat is more typical of the post war 1920's era. What can I say, I am a history nerd.

dear tiffany

Dear Tiffany,
I saw some more fun hats somewhere online today and I had an epiphany. Please let me come visit you, we can go to one of these
and wear this or this
or this or this,
and I am pretty sure I could love this
but we should probably try to avoid these. It could be perfectly fabulous and if we are lucky maybe some of the other girls will come. Please say yes (no pressure!)
Love,
Cara
P.S. Camille, I am perfectly aware that you are laughing at me right now.

British Wedding Hats

One thing I love about England, and firmly believe we should adopt in the United States (outside the Kentucky Derby that is) is the large fun hats. I found this blog post today and was reminded of how much I want to attend an event where possession of a large hat is encouraged if not required. Check out the post from A Cup of Jo, British Wedding Hats.
On a completely random note, have you ever tried using an ergonomic keyboard and mouse? It like learning how to operate a computer all over again, almost.

A couple pictures of fabulous hats from this side of the pond, courtesy of Google Images.
