winter date night ideas

I don't know about everyone else but I get bored with the conventional dinner and a movie date night. I scoured the Internet and found few cheap dates that were still interesting and/or fun. One site suggested drawing pictures of each other, while this is unique I can just picture the look on my husband's face when I suggest this. So here is my list of cheap date night ideas.
  • Squash or Racquetball- I checked out local universities and it looks like this can be done for under $10 including equipment rental
  • Roller skating- while this varies, the rink I looked at was $8 per person.
  • Bowling
  • Scavenger Hunt- write clues to locations around town and take a picture at each place. I have done this with my friends and wrote one for my sister. If you want a list with rules and a point system, let me know.
  • Game marathon- this is what we are doing tomorrow. A group of friends, home made pizza and group games. Some of my favorites are Wits and Wagers, Balderdash, Catch Phrase and Ticket to Ride. If there are just two of you stick to card games like Speed, Uno or Phase 10 or speed scrabble.
  • Homemade S'mores and a movie, games, dinner? The possibilities are endless.
  • Check a local newspaper for free events over the weekend. In our area activities range from Ice Sculpture festivals to tours of local museums. Our library also provides free passes to many museums and local attractions.
  • This one is a little more expensive but a murder mystery dinner. A night with friends dressed up and in character? What's not to love. Bludgeoned on Broadway or Murder on the High Seas?
Happy Friday!
