travel tuesday: bar harbor, maine

Bar Harbor, Maine is a town located on the coast of Mount Desert Island. It was first settled in 1763 and in the late 1800's it became a famous summer spot for the rich and famous.

Bar Harbor is located near Acadia National Park. This photo is from Cadillac Mountain.

Since it is a coastal town there are lighthouses aplenty. Random fact, did you know that the Statue of Liberty was used as a lighthouse until the early 1900's?

This picture epitomizes how I picture Maine in my head. Lots of schooners.

Many of the large estates from the late 1800's and early 1900's have been turned into Bed and Breakfast spots. This is Cleftstone Manor.

The coast of Bar Harbor.
