five ingredient dinners

Slow Cooker Chili Chicken Tacos (this one may have come from the slow cooker section but it looks easy and good) and Pasta with Goat Cheese and Asparagus

You can find more five ingredient dinners here.

bling bling

I love the Taj Mahal necklace from JCrew

I am looking for some bling. I really want a bling ring, maybe not this one but one with some serious bling. Bling, bling, bling.

I saw an old lady wearing one of these last week, and she wasn't a ghetto old lady either. This is an example of bad bling.

shed

I love this painting I found on Etsy. You know what the best part is? $35. Yes that's right $35 plus $3 shipping. Not to bad.

inauguration ball gowns

Caroline Harrison and Pat Nixon's Inaugural Ball dresses

Jacqueline Kennedy and Maime Eisenhower's dresses

Some say that the dress the First Lady chooses for the Inaugural Ball sets the tone for her term. I don't know about that, but I certainly love to look at the different gowns chosen by the First Ladies throughout history. The Smithsonian has an exhibit of gowns worn by the First Ladies to the Inaugural Balls. You can see more Inaugural gowns here, here or here. Enjoy!

spinning

My new desk job includes a sedentary lifestyle as one of its perks. At least for eight hours, five days a week. A part of the sedentary lifestyle, I have recently discovered, is weight gain. So to combat this new found weight I am starting my very own four step program. Step one- register for a spinning class. Check. Step two- change news year's resolution of exercising at least three days a week to four. Step three- weigh myself more regularly. Step four- Try harder to find healthier meals.
I think it will be a recipe for success.

inauguration day

We are having a party at work tomorrow to celebrate and watch the inauguration. Since it will be during lunch we are having everyone bring a "patriotic" appetizer or dessert. I scored the best assignment and I get to bring the flag cake. If you want some ideas for foods to help you celebrate the inaugural day go here or here. For the cake recipe go here.
